Supersonic Tsunami
Privacy Policy
Supersonic Tsunami (supersonictsunami.org) is a small independent publication written by Bryan. We collect as little about you as we can. This page explains exactly what that is.
If you just read the site
We don't run advertising, and we don't build profiles of readers. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard request data (such as your IP address and browser type) to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. Those operational logs are kept for a short period and used only to run and secure the site. Our fonts are served from our own domain, so reading the site doesn't send requests to font services.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people read and how they find the site. It sets cookies and collects information such as the pages you visit, your approximate location, and your device and browser. We see only aggregate reports, never use it for advertising, and don't share it with anyone else. You can opt out with Google'sbrowser add-on or by blocking cookies.
If you sign up for the newsletter
We keep:
- your email address;
- whether you have confirmed or unsubscribed, and when; and
- a random token that makes the confirm and unsubscribe links in our emails work.
To stop automated sign-ups, the form usesCloudflare Turnstile, which checks signals from your browser to tell people from bots. We also record the IP address of each sign-up attempt to limit repeated tries; those records are deleted within 24 hours.
We use your email address only to send what you signed up for: a confirmation message, and then the newsletter. We send email through Cloudflare. If we move the newsletter to a dedicated email service, it will receive confirmed subscribers' addresses only to deliver the newsletter on our behalf. We never sell, rent or trade your address.
Your choices
- Every newsletter email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
- To have your record deleted entirely, or to ask what we hold about you, reply to any email we've sent you and we'll take care of it.
Links to other sites
The Daily Briefing and our posts link to news publishers and other sites. Their privacy practices are their own; we encourage you to read their policies.
Children
The site is written for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes affecting newsletter subscribers will be announced in the newsletter.
